“I Want to Start Yoga, But I Have No Experience”
If you're a mom or mom-to-be who’s been thinking, “I want to start yoga, but I have no experience,” you’re in the right place, and you are not alone.
Whether you’re newly pregnant, deep into postpartum, or juggling life with toddlers, yoga offers a grounding, supportive, and healing space. And here’s the best part: You don’t need any experience to begin. You can start during any trimester, after giving birth, or a year later—because it’s never too early or too late to come back to your body.
In our yoga community for moms, we believe in showing up exactly as you are. No judgment. No pressure. Just breath, movement, and a village that understands what you’re going through.
Hesitating to Start Yoga
Let me answer some questions you might be thinking about to help ease your hesitation!
“Am I too late to start?”
Yoga is a welcoming practice for you at any point of your motherhood journey. You can start at 7 or 37 weeks pregnant, and return to use at 7 weeks or 7 months postpartum. Our support is unwavering and will be here for you.
“What if I can’t do the poses?”
I offer options during classes, so you can always choose what feels best for you. While I’m offering these options, I also encourage you to make the practice your own so you don’t feel awkward doing something different.
“I haven’t exercised in forever…”
Our classes offer gentle movement. While yoga will help to build muscle, it’s not going to leave you shaking and out of breath. You will hopefully feel your muscles “warm up” but we never push ourselves past a point that doesn’t feel safe.
“I’m pregnant and everything feels awkward.”
It can feel awkward if this is the first time your body has gone through a significant change. I’ll hold space for you while you navigate that. By the end of our time together, you’ll learn how to move your body in ways that feel more comfortable and supportive.
“I don’t want to go alone.”
We’ve had friends, moms, and aunts join for classes before! If you need someone to join you for the first class so you feel safe, they’re welcome to register for a drop-in session with you. Once you’re in our space, you’ll feel first hand how inclusive our community is and you will never feel alone.
“It’s always such an amazing space to be in. Molly is in tune with the needs of every momma in the room. It is a great community to be part of, and easily one of my favorite parts of my pregnancy journey!”
What Makes Prenatal and Postpartum Yoga Different?
Our yoga classes aren’t about doing headstands or pushing through a workout. They're about slowing down, tuning in, and building strength—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
In all of our classes, you can expect:
Gentle, supportive movement designed for your stage
Breathing techniques to manage stress, labor, and daily life
Pelvic floor and core awareness to build/rebuild strength
Emotional release and grounding when life feels chaotic
Community connection—because motherhood was never meant to be done alone
We start all of our classes the same way. I’ll ask you what you need that day, we’ll share answers to a community question, then we work on dropping our pin on the mat. We live in a world where we are constantly stimulated, planning ahead, and busy. When you arrive, you’ll be guided through a welcoming sequence that allows you to ease yourself into our shared space. Through intentional breathing and body awareness, you’ll start to bring your attention inward.
When babies join you for postpartum yoga, we take time to integrate them into our space as well. Rarely are there opportunities when you get to prioritize yourself and have your baby with you. By helping to settle them into our space, you’ll also start to feel your stress about being out of the house with them start to dwindle. You’ll realize that you are surrounded by a group of moms who get it.
“I’ve only had the chance to attend one postpartum class due to my husband and my schedule, but Molly made the experience so easy. At the time, my little girl was just 4 months old and wide awake during the class. Molly kindly offered to help with my daughter so I could focus on myself, and it was such a relief. I never once felt like my daughter was being disruptive because Molly was there to help, which was such a weight off my shoulders.”
When should I start?
My answer for this question is always the same: the hardest part is showing up.
No matter what trimester you’re joining us during, it’s never too early or too late for you to join us. We will always make and hold space for you! But what are you getting out of yoga?
Benefits of starting yoga during pregnancy:
Reduces back pain and pelvic discomfort
Improves sleep and digestion
Prepares your body and mind for labor
Builds breath awareness for birth and postpartum
Creates a routine of self-care (a rare and necessary thing for moms!)
Benefits of starting yoga during postpartum:
Rebuilds pelvic floor and core strength
Eases tension from feeding, holding, and bending over so often
Supports hormonal balance and emotional health
Creates a safe space to move, cry, or just breathe
Connect with other moms who truly get it
“I really love Molly’s prenatal yoga classes. The atmosphere she creates is warm, welcoming, and 100% judgment-free. She always asks everyone in the room what we need from class that day, and somehow manages to incorporate these requests into our class on the fly, although it feels quite seamless. I appreciate that she sprinkles in helpful information about anatomy, labor, recovery, and suggestions for managing the unhelpful advice/comments pregnant people often encounter out in the world. I feel more prepared for labor and birth because of Molly’s classes, both physically and mentally.”
What do I need for class?
You don’t need to know a single pose. You don’t need to be flexible. You don’t even need to have done yoga before.
What you do need:
A body (however it feels right now)
A few minutes of time (even if you show up late)
A desire to feel supported in your motherhood journey
We’ll guide you step by step. You’ll learn how to move in ways that feel good for your body. You’ll be reminded to breathe, listen to your body, and let go of expectations.
I provide all of the yoga props for you, just bring yourself (and whatever you might need for baby if you’re coming for postpartum) and let me take care of you during, and after our time together.
