The Most Beautiful Part Of Prenatal Yoga

There are two types of mamas who join prenatal yoga: those who are experiencing their first pregnancy, and those who have been through it before. Bringing these mamas together in one community space is so special, and helps you learn a lot about yourself.

First Time Mamas

During your first pregnancy, with every new day and every change, you learn so much about yourself and this new life that you are growing. Our prenatal yoga classes go far beyond stretching out pregnancy aches but also include breathwork, positive affirmation, and education. At Peaceful and Prenatal, our philosophy is that if you know more about what is happening and why, you will feel more in control of your journey.

Most first-time mamas join class having never taken yoga before and with a goal to “stay fit and active”. What most don’t realize is that staying active gets more difficult throughout pregnancy. It takes a lot of energy for your body to create a new life and slowing down becomes necessary to honor where you are on your journey. While we still build stamina and strength in the upper and lower body, we do so in a mindful way using the power of breathwork and positive affirmations. These tools then are something you can carry into your birth to help you feel in control of your body, mind, and soul.

“Honestly, your yoga was the best thing I did during pregnancy! It helped me calm my breathing and I was able to have a vaginal birth with minimal damage which for me is a HUGE deal!!!” - Mama H.S.

Second+ Time Mamas

Mamas who join prenatal yoga when they already have a child earthside know a bit more of what to expect, but still learn a tremendous amount about themselves during the prenatal yoga series. A lot of mamas are working through birth trauma or are trying to prevent trauma from reoccurring this time around. Energy is typically lower for these mamas as they don’t have as much time to rest on the tiring days of pregnancy.

The biggest difference for second+ time mamas?

They have learned how important it is for them to carve out this time for themselves. It becomes an opportunity for them to bond with this growing life and find who they are in this newest version of themselves. This time allows them to go inward and build a deeper connection with their inner Self.

"You made a world of difference in my pregnancy journey this time around and keeping what I learned in class, mantras, and breathing, really helped in my labor process. My labor was very intense and I really dug deep to get through the height of it all which I don’t think I could have done without your classes. " - Mama A.C.

Coming Together

The most beautiful part about first-time mamas and second+ time mamas coming together is the dialogue that fills our community classes. Sharing experiences, validating feelings, and saying, “I’ve been there!” helps to remind mamas that they are not alone on their journey.

It’s an opportunity for second+ time mamas to reflect on their previous pregnancy journey. To tell the truths about motherhood that are hidden under the facade of pregnancy being a walk in the park. To tell the truths about how motherhood changes you. To tell the truths about this love you are about to experience that will forever change your life for the best.

Together, mamas share empathy and excitement for each other. They ride the highs and lows of pregnancy together and support each other along the way. In our prenatal community, you will never feel alone on your journey. Whether this is your first or your third baby, you will benefit from our classes.

“I grew up in Connecticut and have a lot of friends around here. Still, these classes have been the best support for me. It feels so nice to connect with other pregnant moms who are going through the same thing as I am.” - Mama N.C.
